(New York, NY) - If you listened to the Presidential Debate on October 3, 2000 between Vice President Al Gore and Gov. George W. Bush, moderated by Jim Lehrer, you may have heard us (at least in the background). That’s because Legal Language Services was chosen to provide simultaneous interpreting in Spanish for the Presidential Debates in a simulcast on national (and international) television.
According to Victor J. Hertz, President and CEO of Legal Language Services (LLS): “The rave reviews we received for interpreting this important milestone in the political process is one more example of how Legal Language Services has come to be recognized as the reliable source for cross-cultural communication. When heads of state and senior corporate executives need interpreting or translation, I am proud to say that they call on us.”
Mr. Hertz went on to indicate that this is not the only prestigious assignment in the history of Legal Language Services. He recalled: “Over the years we have been chosen to perform difficult interpreting and translation assignments in many venues. A particularly memorable and challenging project was the ongoing simultaneous interpreting and translation in the international arbitration between New Zealand and France in the matter of the Rainbow Warrior. This highly volatile international dispute lasted more than six months and stands out in my memory because Legal Language Services had to maintain the highest level not only of quality, but also of confidentiality since the political survival of two governments was potentially at stake.
With international headquarters in New York City, Legal Language Services has been serving the legal community both in the United States and abroad for nearly 20 years. In proceedings as diverse as SEC filings for multi-million dollar mergers to individual applications to the INS, LLS sets the standard for reliable service.
