US Court Interpreting Rules & Regulations
US court interpreting guidelines vary from state to state.
As demonstrated below, different states have different requirements for court interpreters. In general, a legal interpreter must have the appropriate qualifications mandated by the state for the pertinent language. These qualifications may change depending on the legal setting.
Please note, not every state offers certification in every language. In fact, most languages do not have any recognized certification and — even when a state does certify interpreters in a specific language — not every proceeding requires a certified interpreter.
